Active 60 Minutes
At Trinity, we engage our children in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
The Daily Mile
We are lucky to have a Daily Mile track at both sites. We take part in the daily mile for 15 minutes every day. We practise our Fundamental Movement Skills around the course too!
Playground Leaders
Children in Year 2 and Year 5 are trained as PALS Playground Leaders and lead games at lunch times for the younger children. They focus on developing their active minutes as well as their fundamental skills.
Active Lunchtimes
Active lunch times are valuable at Trinity across all year groups. Children are provided with a range of equipment to use whilst playing and also have access to a climbing frame. We love Disco Friday, at Brookwood Way!
Brain Breaks
We use a variety of online videos in class to allow children to have an active break and to have a good mind set as they refocus on their work. Teachers also include active lessons where possible.
Continuous Provision
Children in EYFS have access to outdoor continuous provision which provides them with rich opportunities to be active throughout the whole day. Children are able to use our climbing frame, bikes and scooters, nature trail, stage, mud kitchen and much more. Children in Year 1 make use of the outdoors to practise their fundamental movements skills as part of their continuous provision.
Extra Curricular Clubs
We are proud to be able to offer a wide range of extra curricular opportunities that allow our children to develop their skills, explore their interests and build their confidence. We work with local sporting clubs to offer non curriculum based sports such as Judo and Fencing.
Trinity Schools Out
Children who attend our breakfast and after school club are able to take part in active games during their time there. Schools Out are lucky to have their own outdoor provision, at both sites, with use of a climbing frame and other outdoor equipment.
Active Travel
As a school, we encourage our children to travel to school actively daily. We have ample space to store bikes and scooters and encourage children to use the bike sheds as much as possible. As part of our curriculum, each key stage teaches children about travel safety. EYFS & KS1 learn how to safely cross the road, Lower KS2 learn how to safely ride a scooter near the road and Year 5 learn how to safely ride their bike near the road.
Intra Competitions
Mr Glayzer and the Year 6 sports captains occasionally lead intra-school competitions.
