The annual Camp Night took place this term. We spent the day at Rock and River enjoying a range of activities including: Raft building, Archery, Climbing, Balance beams and the Leap of Faith. We then returned to school and camped over-night on the school grounds.
Both classes recently took part in the Heartstart Emergency Life Support Programme. Children were shown how to put someone in the recovery position and how to perform CPR
To celebrate our topic about India, Year 6 children had a India themed day.
We were fortunate enough to have a visit from the Creative Director from the Cultural Educ-Asian company to share her experiences and knowledge.
During the day children had the opportunity to look at traditional Indian clothing, food, dance and art, as well as hear about Indian life. They also had the opportunity to have a small henna pattern applied on their hand.
During the spring term we were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity by Chorley Council to design and paint a book bench that would be situated outside the community centre in the village.
The children designed the bench based on art work by Henri Rousseau, taking inspiration from ‘The Jungle Book’ (Rudyard Kipling) and ‘The Tyger’ (William Blake), literature that we looked at in English during the winter term.
Having recently been given the news that the bench was now in position, a few children from each class took the opportunity to go and see the finished bench and have their picture taken alongside it.
I’m sure you will agree that the bench looks fantastic and is something that the children can be extremely proud of!
