Maths and English homework along with a reading book will be given out on a Friday and must be returned the following Wednesday.
Times tables will be tested every Friday. A list will be sent home with homework.
Your child will also receive a four week block of spellings. These words will follow a spelling pattern that the children will study. There will be a test at the end of the fourth week.
Each child has an orange reading record book. Accompanying this is their guided reading book. In the record book a message will be left for you to explain the focus of your child’s guided reading session. You can continue to support your child with their reading by using this same focus at home. They must bring the guided reading book to school on the day of their guided reading session. An extra reading book will be supplied with their homework. This must be returned with their homework on a Wednesday. Children will continue to take free choice reading books and a book from the library during Year 4. They will have the opportunity to change their library book once a week. This means that every child will regularly have the choice of 3 reading books, at one time. So there is no excuse not to read – We love reading in Year 4!!
4F PE is on a Thursday and Friday.
4Y PE is on a Monday and Wednesday.
Children should wear a full school PE kit. During the winter months they will be allowed to wear a games kit, trainers, a plain long-sleeved jumper with black/dark tracksuit bottoms or leggings and a hat during the very cold months!
Please find attached a copy of the curriculum letter sent home at the start of term and the Autumn Term Topic Homework grid.
We have had a wonderful time celebrating Roald Dahl day, thank you for all the hard work on costumes, all the children looked fantastic! They have enjoyed sending postcards from magical, far away lands, pitching their chocolate bar designs to Willy Wonka, singing like naughty school children from Matilda the musical and creating some revolting recipes.
