Children can choose 4 activities from the topic grid to complete over the term.
Children will have a week to complete a task unless otherwise indicated. They can place work in their purple folders and bring it into school when it is completed. Please try to ensure all work is named. Children may wish to use computing to complete tasks and can forward them to our class email.
Your child will be encouraged to read a breadth of fiction and non-fiction books. They will have the opportunity to be part of the school ‘Reading Challenge’ whereby they can choose a book from the school library each week. In addition to this, they can choose a book from the junior library as well. Reading homework tasks will relate to a book provided by the teacher. We would encourage parents to make a comment in relation to tasks carried out each week by writing in the green reading booklets. This will also inform you of guided reading sessions conducted with the teacher or teaching assistant in class. This should be taken home every night and brought back to school the next morning along with their reading books.

Year 3 have been developing their scootering skills by taking part in the South Ribble Scootsafe initiate.
This week Year 3 visited Hoghton Tower, what a super day we had! We dressed as the Tudors did, explored the Tower and even the dungeons too. The Hoghton Tower staff visited us at school after our visit in case we had any more Tudor questions.
Year 3 have been researching using virtual reality. They used the new Google Expedition app to visualise history…as it happened.
Year 3 have been busy baking. They added the ingredients for their ginger bread ‘Mummies’ and then decorated them with strips of icing.
Mubeen showed us around Chorley mosque to help us learn as part of our Islam topic. We had a great time and learnt lots about his faith.
This year Year 3 will take part in Sing Together, performing at King George’s Hall , Blackburn. Ella and David came to help with our training. If you would like to practise your singing at home please click the link below.
In Science we used disclosing tablets to help us learn how to brush our teeth properly.
Year 3 are taking part in The Edina Trust bulb project. We have planted daffodil and crocus bulbs and will collect data about their growth and the weather (rainfall and temperature). We are looking forward to seeing how they grow.
