We are delighted that we have been invited to join the We Are Reading campaign, which aims to encourage reading for pleasure. We will be planning lots of reading activities which will start this half term and continue throughout the next school year. The whole school will be involved in this initiative aimed at promoting reading for pleasure amongst children and developing reading as a life-long skill.
This half term we will start with children taking part in a Big Book Quiz in their class. For this activity the children will be able to set the questions for their own class quiz. A short homework task has been sent home to help the children prepare for this.
Later this half term we will be holding a ‘Reading Together’ coffee morning at both sites and you will then have the opportunity to share some books and reading activities with your children in school. The Junior coffee morning will be on Tuesday 22nd May and Infants on Thursday 24th May. Both events will be held at 9am until approximately 9.45. We will send out further details information shortly.
We hope you and your child will enjoy the activities we have planned for the ‘We Are Reading’ challenge.
